| About The Program |
It’s no secret we’re in one of the harshest economic climates in decades—and internships and entry-level jobs are scarce. Candidates are left wondering how to distinguish themselves not only among their peers, but also individuals with several years of experience fighting for the same positions.
Come Recommended—a new, exclusive online community connecting the best internship and entry-level job candidates with the best employers—hopes to dramatically change this situation, even beyond when the “dust settles” and our economy becomes robust once again. Unlike other exclusive recruiting networks, Come Recommended requires both candidates and employers to provide at least three recommendations to gain access to the community.
Founded by career expert, journalist, author and mentor Heather R. Huhman, Come Recommended is the result of interviewing countless candidates as a hiring manager and then hundreds of young professionals and hiring managers in her role as the entry-level careers columnist for Examiner.com. Even though she recognizes there will never be a “perfect” solution or a “one-stop shop” for candidates and employers, she believes Come Recommended is certainly a step in the right direction.

About the presenter
Heather R. Huhman is passionate about helping students and recent college graduates pursue their dream careers. As the oldest child in her family - even among her extended family - she did not have anyone to guide her through the trials and tribulations of developing her career. Now, as an experienced hiring manager and someone who has been in nearly every employment-related situation imaginable, she is serving as that much-needed guide for others.
Heather knows and understands the needs of today’s employers and internship and entry-level job seekers. Her expertise in this area led to her selection as Examiner.com’s entry-level careers columnist in mid-2008. The daily, national column educates high school students through recent college graduates about how to find, land and succeed at internships and entry-level jobs.
Additionally, Heather is a career expert for the CAREEREALISM Twitter Advice Project, the job search expert for Campus Calm, a contributor to both One Day, One Job and One Day, One Internship, and author of the e-book “Gen Y Meets the Workforce: Launching Your Career During Economic Uncertainty.”
Heather resides in the Washington, DC area with her husband, dog and two cats. She is available to answer your questions or speak at your next event.
