To better direct freshmen students in a degree program and/or career path new to them, as well as to enhance their business communication (written, verbal, oral), leadership (critical thinking, decision making, problem solving), and technology skills, a first-year experience (FYE) course was developed by Career Services in 2007 as a professional development offering to familiarize freshmen students to "business sense" prerequisite skills needed within today's workforce and the skills necessary for college success. Entering its third year, the course has yielded promising results. The presentation will consist of the following: a brief history and goals of this FYE course, components of the course, survey data results, and student class and subsequent college performance.
This presentation was part of the Intern Bridge 2009 Career Services Online Conference.
The cost of this archived program is $59.
