ABOUT OUR PROGRAMMING

At Intern Bridge, we believe the key to harnessing the power of the upcoming generation is building strong experiential education and entry-level talent programs that effectively introduce and integrate today’s college students into the workforce. Much of the success we have had throughout the nation in building strong internship, co-op, and entry recruiting programs has been a result of the extraordinary partnerships we have fostered with universities. From programming and publications to research and consulting, Intern Bridge provides an array of tools and resources to strengthen the relationships universities seek with their employer and student populations.

Several years ago we had a vision for what employer and university internship management education should look like. While Intern Bridge is proud of our extensive line of printed products and resources, we also recognize that not everyone has the time to read, digest, and implement the information found in a book.

In addition, we understand the frustration of investing serious capital to attend a conference, only to find a few workshops that are specific to your needs and networking with individuals who you will seldom see again. The goal of our programming division has always been to create a national network of regional programming capable of delivering best practices information to a local population. Our professional development programming has been presented to over 10,000 individuals since our inception and has been the spark needed to build lasting employer relationships that result in a pipeline of consistent opportunities for students.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EMPLOYERS

We noticed long ago while travel budgets were being slashed that training budgets, in many cases, were left almost entirely untouched. This left a predicament: how do you train people when they are not permitted to go beyond the boundaries of their office? The answer is online seminars, or webinars. These programs provide an incredible opportunity for individuals to gain access to live programming without ever leaving their home or office. Webinars can also be an excellent way to increase the number of attendees for an event. Employers are much more likely to participate in a program that only requires a few hours of their time, and because the overhead is lower, so is the registration cost.

Admittedly, the tough economy has hurt conference registrations. When we surveyed our employer network to learn more about the trend, we discovered two important points. Employers reported that they did not have the funds to attend a full-day workshop, and that they were so understaffed that they could not justify being out of the office for an entire day. That withstanding, employers still had a thirst for best practices knowledge - a recognition of the fact that those employers who continue to improve their college recruiting brand during the recession will be in a much better hiring position through the recovery.

Intern Bridge has become a leader in online professional development opportunities for career services professionals, and now we are bringing that same expertise to your campus. Imagine being able to reach out and connect with employers, strengthen relationships, share information about your college, and increase recruiting efforts - without the hassle of planning an event, or the expense of holding one on-campus.

Now you can.

BUILDING AND RETAINING YOUR EMPLOYER NETWORK

As a Career Services office, your employer network is critical. Our distance education programming provides the unique opportunity for employers to gain highly valuable knowledge regarding current best practices. Once implemented, these best practices result in more effective internship programs for students and a greater number of full-time jobs (not to mention above average satisfaction rates within these full-time placements.)

Intern Bridge provides complete and full latitude to our university partners to market themselves in any way they see fit during the online program. This includes distribution of digital literature, a speaking role, Career Services splash screens including logos, and much more.

Ultimately, the online programs are designed specifically to increase Career Center visibility and provide critical continuing education to employer contacts.

NO HASSLE FOR YOUR UNIVERSITY
Universities are often surprised by how little is needed to engage Intern Bridge programming with their employers. That's because Intern Bridge handles everything. Period. We build customized website landing pages, market the event to targeted employers, handle registrations including payment, coordinate all of the technology, respond promptly to questions and inquiries, create online networking space, and share presentation handouts. We typically request that universities provide us access to a list of employers to assist in the sharing of information around the online event. This interaction is completed only after an agreement is signed between Intern Bridge and the university detailing the rules of accessing the list. We completely understand and respect the proprietary nature of these lists. Access is kept in the strictest of confidence and security. While generating a list is not mandatory, we have found in our vast experience that having Intern Bridge conduct the marketing activities is more effective for engaging as many employers as possible.

MULTIPLE PROGRAMS TO CHOOSE FROM

Intern Bridge offers a variety of programs for employers. Which distance education program is offered to employers is entirely up to the Career Center. More than one program can be offered on the same date, or different dates as well.

Total Internship Management is our original nationwide workshop. It is the only seminar of its kind designed to provide employers with the soup-to-nuts approach for building and maintaining effective internship programs. Attendees are engaged in information covering a range of topics including making the business case for internships, understanding the millennial generation, structuring an internship program, choosing the most appropriate supervisors, building relationships with your university, and much more.

Managing Millennials is intended to engage employers in an active learning session regarding the emerging generation. The program was designed by Babson College dean Rachel Reiser and is based on countless hours of in-depth research into generational studies throughout the world. This program examines the psyschography of this unique generation and provides highlights and hurdles along seven key millennial characteristics: special, sheltered, confident, team-oriented, conventional, pressured, and achieving. With an alarming rate of individuals planning to retire in the near future, the focus is now on understanding and integrating the millennial generation into the workforce.

Entry Level Talent Management is one of our newest programs. Utilizing a structured entry talent program is the perfect way to attract, recruit, and retain affordable and educated recent college graduates. Far beyond an internship program, a structured entry talent program affords organizations the opportunity to hire top-notch full-time employees while experiencing increased retention rates, maintaining a pipeline of highly qualified candidates, and building relationships with local universities who hold the key to this talented group of knowledge workers. For success to be achieved in a college recruiting program, organizations must first assess their organizational need, and then design, build and implement a structure to meet those needs while not forgetting the importance of ongoing assessment and review. This program provides the tools necessary to make an Entry Level Talent program a true success.

The Intern Bridge Executive Employer Network also contains hundreds of college recruiters in management roles. Utilizing this network, the number of customized programs we can build in addition to the ones listed above is almost endless.

LOW-COST, HIGH-IMPACT

Intern Bridge utilizes a variety of methods in determining an appropriate cost for our programming. We have earned a solid reputation for offering top-notch professional development at prices that are affordable for the small business and large business alike. While it is usually necessary to charge on a per-person basis for in-person workshops, the overhead cost structure is significantly different for online programs. As such, we are able to provide top-notch programming at low rates. Online programs start at $99 and are inclusive of an entire organization (not calculated on a per-person basis.)

It is important to note that there is absolutely no cost to the Career Center whatsoever for hosting an Intern Bridge online program on behalf of their college or university.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Intern Bridge is excited to be able to offer a complete and thorough package for employers through our online programming. Each online program includes the following:

  • A web page customized specifically to the college or university hosting the online program. A sample can be found here.
  • One 90-minute session covering the topics specifically chosen by the Career Center with additional spotlight placed on the career center and its staff.
  • Live presentation including Question and Answer, and the opportunity for employers to directly engage both the presenter and Career Center staff.
  • Registration fees for online programs are conducted on a per-connection basis, not a per-person basis. This means that employers can have multiple individuals participate for one low price.
